Col. EttingerRobert C. Ettinger, Colonel, USAF (Retired) retired as the Manager of Flight Test for Northrop Grumman Unmanned System’s High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) programs. He previously completed 10 years as the Manager of Flight Test for Northrop Grumman’s highly successful Global Hawk program. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science Degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He served 27 1/2 years in the United States Air Force as a fighter pilot, combat pilot, experimental test pilot and flight test manager. His last position in the USAF was Vice Commander of the Air Force Flight Test Center (AFFTC) at Edwards AFB, CA. After retiring from the USAF in 1987, Mr. Ettinger held a variety of positions in the aerospace industry as an engineer, test pilot, manager and consultant.

Colonel Ettinger will be discussing the factors that led to the development of the “Ettinger Total Luck Quotient”. It is based on live, real time, full-scale and repeatable test results. It is an incredible story. It has something for everyone: fighter aircraft, pitch black night, 15 foot waves, 56 degrees Fahrenheit water, 100 NM off the coast and brave sailors of the Japanese Maritime Safety Agency.
