June 20th will be the 10th Annual Flaming Brisket Fly-in, this time to Santa Ynez! (It's at least the 10th, but the website only goes back that far). With Covid rules slowly starting to ease it's time to go fly and have some of Mitch's famous smoked beef brisket.
The cost is $7 per person; a big jump in price but inflation and the shortage of beef have forced the issue. Heck, it's still the cheapest part of the day! Bring your own drinks and sides; due to the virus we won't be sharing sides this year. Mitch will bring the brisket, buns and condiments. We also recommend bringing chairs or a picnic blanket, as well, to ensure spacing.
For those that feel comfortable with it, we will meet up at the GAC at 10:00 for the pre-flight briefing then head up to Santa Ynez. There will also be a GroupMe group “Flaming Brisket” for up to date communication concerning the Flaming Brisket Fly in. Either way, please stay in touch as plans can change unexpectedly during these unpredictable times. With that said, since the brisket takes 12-14 hours to smoke, we'll be having a picnic whether or not the weather cooperates. Please sign up online by 8:00 PM Wednesday the 17th with how many orders of brisket you are committing to, so Mitch knows how much brisket to cook.
