The Classic Rotors Museum at The Ramona Airport is hosting a lunch for the Del Amo Flyers on February 15, 2020. We'll fly (or drive) down to Ramona airport (KRNM) for a tour of this large and well maintained collection of rotary wing aircraft dating from the 1940s through today.
The level of technical wizardry used by the early helicopter engineers will astound you, and the staff of the museum know how to lead you through this history from years of experience as pilots and mechanics. Lunch will be served at the museum, indoors or out, depending on the weather, and there will be a $40 charge for admission, lunch and the docents. Last time the museum put on a feast like this the menu included tri-tip, chicken, ribs, brisket and pulled pork as well as buns, beans and coleslaw with sodas, water and coffee to drink.
We'll meet as usual at the Torrance General Aviation Center at 10:00 AM on Saturday for a pre-flight planning meeting. If the weather looks doubtful as we approach February 15th alternative transporation plans will be posted here. Send your questions to kelvin @ vanderlip.org.
