The coveted Wings award was presented to Al Gibbs for all of his imaginative contributions to our recent Hangar Parties. Al was responsible for the perfectly rendered bar sign for the Pancho Barnes themed party, as well as the corral set used for photos at the party. He was also responsible for the great palm trees used at this and last year's parties.
Larry Chapman gave a short summary of the quiz and the associated results. Finally, the winners were announced - Maggie Smith, Jim Pavlick & Rose Lee, and Laurice Churchill & Robert Beckwith. Only Robert was present to receive the trophy, and was able to keep his emotions in check during what was obviously one of the high points of his life. It is unclear whether Robert will share the trophy with others on his team.
The evening was capped off with a very interesting presentation by Pacific Blue Air based at Hawthorne Airport. Pacific Blue Air flies two high-tech Revo Evolution weight-shift sport aircraft and offers both training and sightseeing flights over the South Bay. They definitely gained some potential customers as a result of their presentation. For more info, check out their website at www.pacificblueairla.com.
Congratulations to Al for his well-deserved Wings award and to the Mystery Fly-In winners!
