San Carlos, Mexico, Fly In 2024
Our November fly-in is to the lovely town of San Carlos, (Sonora) Mexico on Sunday, November 10 – Wednesday, November 13, 2024. (Guaymas MMGM is the Port of Entry/Exit 12 miles away, approximately 600 nautical miles from KTOA.) Come and see what this recently designated “Pueblo Magico” (Magical Town) on the Sea of Cortez has to offer. Here are a few: Amazing fishing, boating, sailing, beautiful beaches, gorgeous sunrises/sunsets, desert, mountains, marinas, water sports plus much more.
Rooms have been blocked at the MarinaTerra Hotel and Spa (Link) which is centrally located at the Marina San Carlos for the above dates, plus the hotel will extend prices for 2 days AFTER based on availability:- Jr. Suite - Pool Level: (walk out to pool) $3,600 Pesos (approx. $225 USD)
- Jr. Suite - 1st Level: (above pool level) $3,200 Pesos (approx. $200 USD) Above suites include 1 King bedroom, kitchen, w/marina view and some have 2 single sleeping options in living room, (w/ 1 master bathroom)
- Marina View Room: $2,400 Pesos (approx. $150 USD ) Two double beds.

Getting around is easy with taxis and Uber. We also have a 5 person SUV in San Carlos and can do some transporting. If you prefer to rent a car, options are limited. Best option is Facil Rent A Car. www.facilrentacar.com. We suggest calling them to reserve at +52 622-222-1450 as website can be difficult. Since there is not a counter at the airport, you also need to arrange for the car to be dropped off and picked up at MMGM.
There is lots to do in San Carlos! We will start off with a welcome cocktail party including dinner at our home there Sunday evening, plus a sailing adventure and more. But we’ll be sure to include time for you to relax!
Tom will hold an important Mexico briefing session on Sunday, August 18 at Hangar 2759J (Sy Symons Row) starting at 3:00 pm promptly, arrival recommended at 2:45 pm. Bring your goodies and favorite beverage...others can join us afterwards from 4:00-6:00 pm for a social time. Any interested pilot is welcome to attend the briefing. Tom will discuss required documents and protocol for those new to flying in Mexico and those needing a refresher. There is also new protocol required as of January 2024 that he will cover. Pilots also will need to order the required DTOPS decal which can take a few weeks to arrive (link here). It is good for the calendar year. The cost is about $30.
